Privacy and cookies

This notice explains what personal information LocalVouch collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: you can browse LocalVouch without an account, we don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't sell anyone's data.

Who we are

LocalVouch is run by DIDOV LIMITED (company number 16474852), registered office Buttercup Cottage, Morgans Vale Road, Redlynch, Salisbury, England, SP5 2HY. We are the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us about anything in this notice at hello@localvouch.co.uk.

If you're browsing

• You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email.
• “Near me”: if you choose it, your browser shares your approximate location with the page so it can sort results by distance. This happens on your device only. Your location is never sent to us or stored.
• Maps are loaded from OpenFreeMap. As with any website, their servers see your IP address when your browser requests map images. They don't set cookies.
• Server logs: our hosting and database providers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the service running and secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable website.

If you contact us or ask to be listed

When you use the “Get listed” form or email us, we collect what you send: usually your name, email address, phone number (optional), your organisation's name and website, and your message.

• Why: to reply to you, check whether your listing is a good fit, and arrange verification.
• Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
• How long: we delete listing requests automatically 12 months after they arrive. If you become a customer, we keep what we need for that relationship and our legal obligations (such as accounting records).

Business details that appear on a published listing (for example opening hours, a business phone number or email) are published with the business's agreement.

Our team

Staff sign in to our admin tool with their work email. We record who changes a listing and when, to keep listings accurate and accountable, and delete those records after 24 months.

Who we share information with

We don't sell personal information. We use trusted providers to run LocalVouch:

• Supabase, for our database, file storage and staff sign-in.
• Vercel, for hosting the website.
• OpenFreeMap, for map images (see above).
• An email provider, to send and receive email.

They process information only on our instructions. Some of these providers are based in, or use sub-processors in, countries outside the UK and European Economic Area (such as the United States). Where that happens, transfers are covered by an adequacy decision (including the UK–US data bridge) or by standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum to them.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary. Visitors don't get any cookies from us. Staff who sign in to the admin tool get secure session cookies that keep them signed in; these are essential for that service, so they don't need consent. If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we'll ask first.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you,
• ask us to correct it, or to delete it,
• object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it,
• ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation.

Email hello@localvouch.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you live in the EU, you can also contact your local data protection authority.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the staff who need it, and our database only lets the public read listings that have been published.

Changes

If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted here.
